Celebration of Prof. Guo-Shi Wu’s 70th Birthday

Fragrant Hill Climbing & Birthday Dinner

On April 16, 2011, the group enjoyed a day of hiking in Xiang-Shan which culminated with a special dinner party in the evening to celebrate Prof. Guo-Shi Wu’s 70th birthday. Prof. Wu is a distinguished professor of Tsinghua University, who has made significant contributions to the early development of theoretical and computational chemistry in China. As an important group member of TCCL, he provides a great deal of guidance and support for our academic research. We sincerely wish Prof. Wu good health, happiness, and a long life.

Celebration of Professor Li’s 49th Birthday

On April 11, 2011, the group held a simple but very sincere birthday party in the lab to celebrate Prof. Li’s 49th birthday. Secretary Kexin prepared a big, beautiful cream filled cake with cherries on top. In the light of candles, members sang the birthday song to Professor Li. While we ate cake, Professor Li told many stories. Among other things, he told stories about his childhood school experiences and interesting stories about his sons. Most importantly, professor Li encouraged us to overcome the difficult, persist in our ideals, and work for the need of our country. The party was fun and relaxing, ending with all in good cheer.

Tsinghua University Centenary Celebration (1911-2011)

Two days before the centenary DAY of Tsinghua University, on April 22nd, members from TCCL took a walking tour across campus. We started from our Hetian Building, visited the newly built “History Museum” , and ended at the southeast gate of THU. Everyone enjoyed each other’s company, as well as, the beauty of the architecture and landscaping around campus.

“Happy Birthday, Tsinghua!”
